Hello, I am using DAS - air dry clay.
You can do everything you want with it: It dries in the air, there’s no need to put it in the oven; you can wet it and make some fixes; you can quit your work in the middle and continue your sculpture later on; you can sand it, paint it and do all this in your own personal and comfortable environment.
*** When possible, when the weather is nice, I let my Das sculpture dry in the sun. This is the best way for them to dry well and quite fast.
*** You can use Dremel to sand, saw and fix your Das sculptures as you like. Once you reach your desired form, you can continue sanding with regular wet or dry sand papers to reach a silky surface for your sculpture.
*** For painting your sculptures, you can use acrylic paints and then also Posca colors.
*** Use Styrofoam to put your wet sculptures on, for drying. This is an excellent material that the sculptures do not stick to.
*** Use a rotating surface as the base on top of which you create your sculptures. It is very convenient during sculpturing and later on for painting.
